Food Walk
July 15 - still windy and cool - in the 50s
We finally have a day that is basically unscheduled. Jack took off early and walked to the Braud bakery which is well known and picked up cinnamon rolls (not too sweet) and croissants and cookies and hauled them all back to the apartment. Then he headed out to a coffee shop to sit down with his journal and just chill. Jan and Dianne headed out for a shopping adventure. Dianne found hats and sweaters and other stuff for her family and she finished it off with a beautiful blanket to drape over her legs in the family room. Lunch was at the apartment and then we took a break.
Next was a food walk from 4-7. We hit 5 restaurants with multiple courses at each one. Our guide was named Penny and she was a native of Iceland. It was a great tour with dishes of fish and lamb and cod and shark and potatoes and many other things. It was a little tough for Dianne because of her fish allergy but we still had a fun time. We did have a small piece of fermented shark along with the local drink of brenniven - eat fast and drink fast. We finished with dessert at the Loki restaurant and then went to the Hallgrimskirkja church with is an icon in Reykjavik.
Then home and into bed.
